From Pregnancy to Purpose: How Chiropractic Became Part of Dr. Shannon's Story

For Dr. Shannon, chiropractic care did not begin as a career plan. It began during her first pregnancy in 2019, when she was looking for ways to support the kind of pregnancy and birth experience she wanted.

“Chiropractic was actually part of my first pregnancy from the very beginning,” Dr. Shannon recalls. “The first practitioner I saw when I found out I was pregnant wasn't a midwife or an OB—it was a chiropractor.”

After reading about chiropractic care during pregnancy, pelvic balance, and natural birth, she began seeing a chiropractor weekly and continued throughout her pregnancy. She ultimately welcomed her daughter at a birth center with a midwife—an experience that closely matched what she had hoped for.

At the time, she valued chiropractic care. But she says she did not yet realize how deeply that experience would influence the direction of her life.

That changed after her daughter was born.

A Personal Experience That Changed Everything

When Dr. Shannon's daughter began struggling with breastfeeding, she noticed that her baby strongly favored one side and did not want to turn her head in the other direction. They brought her to a chiropractor, and afterward, her daughter was able to turn her head and latch on that side.

For Dr. Shannon, the experience was more than a positive moment with her own child. It made her think about the many mothers she had previously encountered through her work with WIC.

She had seen firsthand how many mothers wanted to breastfeed but encountered challenges without knowing where to turn for additional support.

“I remember thinking, What if more moms knew this kind of support existed?”

That question stayed with her.

From Motherhood to a New Calling

As her family continued receiving chiropractic care, Dr. Shannon watched her daughter grow and thrive. She also felt that chiropractic care was a valuable part of their family's experience through challenges such as colic and tummy struggles.

Eventually, her personal experience became a professional calling.

Dr. Shannon decided to return to school and pursue her doctorate in chiropractic. She wanted to understand pregnancy, birth, infancy, development, and the nervous system at a much deeper level—and she intentionally pursued additional education focused on pediatric and perinatal care.

“I didn't go to chiropractic school because I wanted to spend my career treating back pain,” she explains. “I went because becoming a mother showed me an entirely different side of chiropractic, and I wanted other families to have access to that.”

The Beginning of Full Circle Chiropractic

Today, that original experience has become the foundation of Dr. Shannon's work at Full Circle Chiropractic.

Her journey is a reminder that sometimes the experiences that affect us most personally can also reveal the work we are meant to do. What started with one pregnancy, one baby, and one family's experience with chiropractic ultimately became a commitment to helping other mothers and families feel supported.

For Dr. Shannon, chiropractic is not simply a profession. It is the continuation of a journey that began when she became a mother herself—and it is a journey that ultimately brought her full circle.
